Another glorious Wednesday is upon us!

In other news, have you heard about Carafe? It's a webcomic sort of deal. It doesn't have a storyline and pretty much anybody can submit a comic if they want. I did. It's my debut as a creator of comics and not just a complainer-about-comics. I hope to see you next Tuesday*, when it will run.

Does that mean that both Pandolph and Adams can sue? I'm pretty sure they won't, but could they if they wanted to?

Also, neither Dilbert nor TOBY are very funny in these particular instances.

The downturn continues turning down

Today was even worse than yesterday, comics-wise. When will this downturn end? It's even affecting adventure strips, and what sort of day is it when the "Spider-Man" strip isn't bad enough to mock? Well, here we go. I shall endeavor to do my best.

Technically from yesterday, but it showed up in the ol' DCR inbox today. The problem with this one is that, unless that girl is going to become the physical embodiment of patience, then it should be "patient". This isn't the first time I've noticed such a grammatical snafu in this strip, and I'm wondering if it's just a character quirk or an actual error.

Chip is supposed to be in a band, right? Shouldn't he be appreciative of the work that those musicians have done? I mean, it's Paul McCartney. He was one of the Beatles, for god's sake. If you're going to just dismiss him as a old man rocker, then you're really selling him short.

That guy gets it. Except, with the sliding time-line used in comic strips as well as comic books, shouldn't Brutus Thornapple be more aware of who Ozzy Osbourne is, even if he wasn't a fan? Shouldn't what I'm assuming is an "Oz Fest" t-shirt tip him off? Unless they're just portraying Brutus as a loser, which is very likely. I have some choice words to say about this strip at some later date. It'll be a theme post.

Sorry Bil Keane but these kids were born in 1960 so for the first time in a long time I can't argue with the hell spawn. I actually like the strip without the parents and dialog; you can almost imagine Dolly directing Billy and Jeffy in a reenactment of their favorite scene from Fight Club.

The Daily Comics for Your Review 7/15/08

This has been a great week for comic strips so far, hope you all are enjoying it! I am going on vacation next week for a few days so updates my be different than usual - I am hopefully going to prewrite some web comic reviews and bring you all some of the best web comics you've never seen before. Our old buddy Eric may be stopping in to do the daily comic update in the evenings too, we shall see! Enjoy the comic review.

Almost everyone who has ever worked in a corporate office can find something they can relate to in Dilbert, and that is the reason behind its enormous success. The hardcore comic people seem to dislike the strip, but it's probably because they've been sitting in their parents basement the last 10 years and never had to deal with upper management.

Of all the daily comic strips that could use color, Lio would benefit the most. Mark Tatulli does an amazing job with this pantomime comic but color adds another layer of communication to help get your point across that can't be matched with other means.

What makes a cartoonist think 1: old people having sex should ever be referenced and 2: old people having sex is funny? Our only hope is that they're talking about watching a DVD instead.

Scary Gary has only been in print for about a month and it's already showing great pormise. The strip is by Mark Buford who is known for his past print comic Meatloaf Night. If you like what you see today I highly suggest you check out the short backlog of comics and also contact your local newspaper to encourage them to pick up this great comic strip.

Friday Comics for Your Brain 5/23/08

This whole blog thing really seems to be ramping up. I earned my first internet dollar off of my ads and I'm planning on having it framed and hung somewhere on the website. I am working on networking with other comic bloggers and have added some links to their pages on the left side of the page here. It's amazing how many networks of people pimping their blogs there are online, and I know because I am slowly joining all of them, ugh.
Let me apologize about today, I only found one comic to share. If you're disappointed, just imagine how I feel!


Dilbert 5/23/08








Dilbert is one of those comics that I enjoy almost every day, but it is so wide spread that I feel like I'm probably posting something everyone has already read. Usually the strip revolves around office humor, but Scott Adams knows his stuff. Poking fun at your main character, who you usually use to ridicule other characters in the strip, really shows that he gets humor no matter the subject.

I know I didn't update last weekend but this weekend will be more relaxed so I should at least be able to push something out Sunday. And Monday is a holiday, I'll be fishing, and we will see what happens with the comics.
