Hey Hey Hey Hey HEEEEEEYYYYYYY.......

Well hello! As I learned yesterday just like the rest of you, we no longer have a comic reviewer for Monday/Tuesday (sad face, great job getting a.... job, you loser) so looks like I will be filling in until I find another sucker... uh.. willing participant, who would like to write for the best comic review group blog on the internet. You get to pimp any of your own work as much as you want and you also get access to basically every comic strip currently in syndication. Email us at dailycomicsreview@gmail.com if you're interested!

Extra Life

Scott Johnson is a busy man. He makes about 500 podcasts a week and still finds time to make some bitchin web comics. His recent Big Foot Diaries looks great, reads great, and makes you feel all warm and tingly inside in a legal way. Not that he needs love from the DCR, I'm just hoping to get on one of his podcasts. Do I have something on my nose?

3D Glasses

This is the first web comic I have seen that's done in some sort of 3d modeling program and it makes me wonder what other cartoonists who use high-tech pen and paper analogs think about it. It's new and seems to be finding it's own voice and humor. I have to be honest and say the first month or two of reading it was painful, but now that the creator has some content under his belt and it is steadily improving.

Overcompensating

Jeffrey Roland is fucking killing it. The last could of weeks of Overcompensating may be the best continuous streak of any web comic I have ever read. Head over there and just read back until you stop laughing, then wonder where your whole day went.

Byron Pinkleton

Can you tell I've been reading lots of web comics lately? Byron Pinkleton is a visually distinctive comic with a decidedly adult subject matter. While the dick-to-boob ratio is tilted a little too far in the wrong direction for my taste (leaning slightly to the left), there are enough jokes and cleavage - not to mention outstanding artwork, to keep me reading every Monday.

Let There Be Comics!

Big thanks to XY for taking care of the update yesterday! This whole moving thing is a huge pain in the ass but it's all for the better! Please make sure to vote for the worst comic of March and also drop some change in our donation bin for our first year pledge drive! On to the comics.

Overcompensating 4/6/09
Overcompensating 4/6/09
It has been an unusually pleasurable expereince to read both Overcompensating and Least I Could Do over the last few weeks. Their humor and my mood have been quite copacetic. Here's to hoping for an all out epenis webcomic war between JROWLAND and Senior Sohmer.

2 Cows and a Chicken 4/7/09
2 Cows and a Chicken 4/7/09
I always thought a metal pecker was something you bought for your girlfriend or wife (and I guess to be all-inclusive maybe you're boyfriend?) but apparently it can mean more than one thing. And one last question; how does a pond frog get up in a tree like that?

Off The Mark 4/6/09
Off The Mark 4/6/09
The great thing about this comic is you can either say this guy really loves his bitch (animal lover with outdated word usage) or really hates his bitch (gangster rapper or misogynist).

NEWS ALERT: Facebook Redesigned, World Internets In Meltdown

Overcompensating 3/15/09
Overcompensating 3/15/09
Even though we think of ourselves as the tech generation, whenever someone changes something we're used to, the forecasters always call for at least three days of steady bitching. Thankfully our own recent redesign garnered nothing but a smidgen of praise and some complete ambivalence.

Natural Selection 3/16/09
Natural Selection 3/16/09
HA HA HA HA HA! A comic about a lady killing her 3 previous husbands! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Did she kill them all within the last week? Because that grass would be growing over those piles in the time it takes to marry and kill three people. Do jokes about mariticide ever get old? Being a husband myself I cant get enough!

Gasoline Alley 3/16/09
Gasoline Alley 3/16/09
It's days like today where I really miss Going Antisane. It was a blog written by a guy named Greg and he handled the strip daily like a consummate professional. He has dropped off the face of the earth (at least the blogosphere) and hasn't posted anything since last July. Hope everything is going good Greg, if you ever want to come back we'd love to have you here! On to this comic; is it appropriate to use the word "spunk" in a comic in the year 2009? It has been thoroughly corrupted by everyone from the porn industry to, well, me. And why would you draw a character with her hand right in front of her face? If it would be considered a bad photograph it probably wouldn't make a good comic panel either.

Frog Applause 3/16/09
Frog Applause 3/16/09
When Frog Applause chooses to write cohesive strips instead of their usual acid-induced, hallucinated events, it is one of the best comics out there. The middle finger has been played out folks, and we do need a new gesture just like Ms. News-anchor says. "The Shocker" has been co-opted and put on t-shirts by frat boys, and the thumb bite is too old school to pack much of a punch. I think we may have run out of options.

Mark Trail 3/16/09
Mark Trail 3/16/09
It's not apparent from the facial expressions if these two guys are intensely private individuals who are pissed at being photographed or if they are super pumped up that they were in it! Either way this looks to be an awful new storyline. Two pillars of the community, in a torrid gay love affair, are unexpenctantly photographed by the son of the worlds most famous wildlife detective. Hilarity and hijinks ensue!

Whole Lot of Butts

Overcompensating 3/9/09
Overcompensating 3/9/09
My wife, the wonderful woman that she is, will often ask me why certain body parts are the way that they are. I now have an excellent answer for her! I also have a question for you Mr. Jeffrey Rowland. Where would be a better spot for poop to come out?

Rose is Rose 3/10/09
Rose is Rose 3/10/09
I thought we covered this yesterday! There is no such thing as a lima bean quesadilla, even Google says they don't exist! It doesn't exist because that would be one of the worst food combinations possible. Why don't you go lean against your "I'm a little bitch who can't deal with reality" tree.

Jump Start
3/10/09
Jump Start 3/10/09
Better question: would it be a little gay? Stella? I am gonna go with yes but I'm no expert.

Cow and Boy 3/10/09
Cow and Boy 3/10/09
Best bad breath description ever! You know how you won't notice something until someone points it out to you and then it is all you can see from then on? Cow has GIANT nostrils.

The Dinette Set 3/10/09
The Dinette Set 3/10/09
Even though it is basically a garbage strip every day, there are still usually random entertaining phrases in the background in the Dinette Set. .69 cent Pork Butt could and should have been the whole punch line for today's panel. Mmmmmm pork butt!

Massive 4 Day Comic Strip Bonanza

So I have a feeling posts like this will become more common here at the DCR, which is now a totally inappropriate name for this website. I am still reviewing the daily comics, just not... daily. Some day we will get back to 5 updates a week but right I hope you're happy with two.

Apartment 3-G 10/28/08
Apartment 3-G 10/28/08
Blaze is apparently battling a fashion demon of his own. Gayest black ascot ever.

Between Friends 10/28/08
Between Friends 10/28/08
Double Homicide! Double Homicide!

Judge Parker 10/30-10/31/08
Judge Parker 10/30/08
Judge Parker 10/31/08
This has to be the sexiest strip on the comics pages. Dixie Julep's parents named here intentionally because they were both life-long Carnies and they dreamed of a brighter future for their young one. The second image is the closest comic strip emulation of a cheap porno intro I've ever seen. I mean Christ, his name is MR. DRIVER, think of all the horrible one liners!

Ballard Street 10/31/08
Ballard Street 10/31/08
Good idea, very good idea!

Cow and Boy 10/30/08
Cow and Boy 10/30/08
A child who is already considering life's implications and thinking of how to prolong his existence is a little disturbing. I didn't start plotting to transfer from human to disembodied brain form until I was 23 and had to find a way to make myself immortal.

Dinosaur Comics 10/30/08
Dinosaur Comics 10/30/08
I'm cuckoo for intercourse! It works great for most breakfast cereal slogans, Intercourse-Breakfast of champions! Mikey likes it! Gotta have my pops! Kid tested-Mother.... awww shit.

Ginger Meggs 10/30/08
Ginger Meggs 10/30/08
Apparently in Australia, "Chubb" is not slang for dick. Or maybe it is?

Overcompensating 10/30/08
Overcompensating 10/30/08
The more Jeffrey Roland makes fun of the motherland and their slang, the more he deserves some sort of award.

Pearls Before Swine 10/31/08
Pearls Before Swine 10/31/08
Aw what a missed opportunity! Pastis why did you deny us a hilarious Zombie Turkey storyline by placing this comic at the end of Halloween week instead of on Monday with a following 4 days of GENIUS!

Secret Asian Man 10/30/08
Secret Asian Man 10/30/08
If you're making jokes about the internet, always make sure it's not something that already exists. Hundreds of men and some women will now go check to see if Booble is a real website (hint:DUH IT'S THE INTERNET)

The Argyle Sweater 10/30/08
The Argyle Sweater 10/30/08
The truly bizarre and insulated environment that is Sesame Street almost ensures taking any one of the characters out in to the real world will result in hilarious hijinks. We demand more comics in this vein!

Working Daze 10/31/08
Working Daze 10/31/08
I'm thinking about starting a support group for people who have a boss who actually say this, like mine does. "Maybe if you weren't emailing chain letters to your family and friends all day you could have given it to me yesterday!"

Ashley Todd is my God now.

Blondie 10/27/08
Blondie 10/27/08
It only took a couple extra years, but Blondie writers finally hosted their first cross strip humor, if you can call it that. Too bad they missed the boat THREE YEARS AGO when Pastis and others started the damn idea.

Slylock Fox 10/27/08
Slylock Fox 10/27/08
The real mystery here is what the worlds largest pearl was doing at the Forest Museum? If I could choose my reincarnation for the next life, it would definitely be a gorilla in a purple suit.

Zits 10/27/08
Zits 10/27/08
Obviously someone could, or we wouldn't have today's Zits strip, which would just be such a loss.

Frog Applause 10/27/08
Frog Applause 10/27/08
Take one strip that knows it is bizarre and have it make fun of another strip which is just naked children who need antidepressants and you have today's Frog Applause.

Garfield 10/27/08
Garfield 10/27/08
Wait, what? No lasagna, animal-on-animal violence, or inept relationship happenings... this can't be Garfield.

Diesel Sweeties
10/23/08
Diesel Sweeties 10/23/08
Halloween is a special time of year when the deformed and hideous can, if only for one night, be the envy of everyone else who had to buy their costume.

Sarah Palin is Comedy Gold

That whole thing I said a while ago about not really discussing politics on the DCR has been thrown out the window. There are just too many funny comic strips about her to ignore. Sarah Palin has no place in the presidential campaign and people will look back on here selection as VP and laugh even more than they are already. YAY COMICS TIME!

Overcompensating 10/7/08
Overcompensating 10/7/08
It all makes sense now. The uncanny resemblance to Mayor McCheese, the awful jokes, etc. You can put lipstick on a cheeseburger, but it's still a cheeseburger.

Yenny 10/7/08
Yenny 10/7/08
Here we present the easy 3 step guide to know if you're reading a Yenny Cartoon - Just ask these questions. Step 1: Do the characters have hair with impossible colors? Step 2: Are there any giant exposed thighs or bursting, voluptuous breasts? Step 3: Is there a pantyshot or camel toe in at least one panel? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you're reading Yenny!

Overcompensating 9/5/08
Overcompensating web comic
With all of the politics and personal feelings being thrown around lately, it can sometimes be hard to understand your fellow man. Jeffrey Rowland finally does the job we've been waiting for the web comic community to do, and we're all better for it.

The New Adventures of Queen Victoria 9/5/08
The New Adventures of Queen Victoria
God we've got a lot of political comics today. I figured it's either that or endless back-to-school jokes and since we only have this government crap every 4 years instead of every freaking September, lets go with the slightly less saturated subject matter.

Strange Brew 9/5/08

Pearls Before Swine 9/5/08
pearls before swine 9/5/08
This is the first time Pearls Before Swine has been a LOL comic in a while, but it made me ROFL and LMFAO HA HA HA. This was a surprising comic strip because who would have guessed something so grim would make it past the editors, you go Pastis!

Bizarro 9/5/08
bizarro, minigolf comics
I would actually think about playing golf if they made the courses like giant minigolf fields, too bad it would probably be prohibitively expensive.
