The Daily Comics Review: Terrible Tuesday

by Hal Bent

I don't know if I meant for Terrible Tuesday to be terrible comic strips, or I meant to be terrible towards the creators and rip their life's work and achievement that they publish for their adoring public.  Hmmmm.

Adam@Home by Brian Basset:

In the defense of Adam's wife here, its not like his mustache is getting within two feet of her lips at any time.  Her loving comes from Craigslist.

Ziggy by Tom Wilson & Tom II:
The missing part of the panel before the ellipsis reads: "For the meager $1.67, your life savings you scraped together to go out for dinner and feel like a normal human beings...".

Off The Mark by Mark Parisi:
Look at that smirk and smile on Mr. Peanut.  Freaky-deaky!  Putting a little Mr. Peanut in the green M&M, wow. I can't get over Mr. Peanut's facial expression: I'm going to be drifting off to sleep and see that smarmy smile and "GAAHHHHH!".

Momma by Mell Lazarus:
Francis is passing STDs across all of Craigslist's Casual Encounters page.  Alas, Momma can only allow her son to infect so many per month per the local Board of Health.

Getting Older

Baldo
Baldo
He went on to say, "...YOU'RE 36 FOR GARSH SAKES!  GET A JOB!"

The Barn
The Barn
Is it because he is so one-of-a-kind stupid?  I would think there would be a lot of stupid sheep out there whether it's on this Earth or its duplicate.

Bewley
Bewley
What's wrong with the "Can I have the check?" mime?  How else are you supposed to tell the waiter that you've sufficiently gorged yourself on overpriced food and would now like to leave as quickly as possible?

Bliss
Bliss
This comic is an example of when a cartoonist can't think of anything funny and instead illustrates that last thing that happened to him that day.

The Born Loser
Born Loser, The
How is she one to talk?  She towers over him!  She is so large that she has to wear a garbage bag with arm holes cut out of it.

Off the Mark
Off The Mark
Well, Batman does regularly operate a bat-plane, so this really shouldn't be so surprising.

Shoe
Shoe
Shoe, you are criticizing an infomercial late at night; I think you are still the one with no life.

On Tipping

Bliss
Bliss
The colorist really should not have made the characters' torsos flesh colored.  Now everyone looks like nerdy Chippendale dancers.

Broom Hilda
Broom Hilda
Wha?  This monster has a very roundabout method of collecting victims.  I don't imagine that many "vacuum cleaner salespersons" would just happen to walk by this darkened cave, let alone possess the inclination to accept the sign's invitation.  Yet apparently this exact scenario has happened at least 4 times.

The Buckets
The Buckets
Weird, inexplicable storyline in The Buckets this week.  This kid just sits outside next to a tip jar while absentmindedly playing a video game.  Strangers walk by and ask him if he is some sort of undesirable/annoying character; the kid says "no" and then the stranger leaves a dollar in the jar and moves on.  Perhaps the cartoonist is suggesting we all should show greater appreciation for innocent and unobnoxious.  So readers, next time you see someone on the street minding their own business and not being a prick be sure to tip them generously.

Cul de Sac
Cul de Sac
"Because you're my only hope for grandchildren.  Petey's off-putting OCD tendencies will never get him laid."

Off the Mark
Off The Mark
Ah... sweet vengeance.

The Cult of Barney Google

Another Tuesday, another installment of Subject M and Aico:

For more comickry and whatnot, visit the Meekrat Entertainment Group. Also, there was a bit I almost did with "Marvin" which just involved Subject M screaming incoherently.

Drunker than a Snowman

It's 2012 everybody! Time for some more comics review.

Andy Capp
Andy Capp
When the neighborhood kids erect a snowman depicting your drunkenness, it's probably time to quit drinking.

Betty
Betty
Looks like Bub is taking his son out to Hooters for some hot wings and chili cheese fries.

Bliss
Bliss
This is like a person designing his house to look like a porta-potty. I don't understand the dog's motivation here. Does he intend to use this structure as a bathroom? Why am I questioning a t00l-weilding dog's motivation? Damn you, Bliss!

Off the Mark
Off The Mark
Very nice wordless comic. Though how did the dog climb up on the counter while wearing that cone? When my cat had one, he was very clumsy and kept running into things.

In the Bleachers
In the Bleachers
Normally I don't much care for this comic, but I like the wordplay today.

In the Sticks
In the Sticks
The beaver shouldn't be so happy about the bear's impossible wish. A wish that comes true is more likely to encourage him to keep making more wishes. Unless the bear is so stupid that he just keeps throwing money in, hoping that more will somehow help? Did I just describe someone with a gambling problem?

Okay, that's all for now. See you next week!

The Failed Marriage App

Barkeater Lake

Barkeater Lake
Hahaha! Newspapers are dying, along with old acquaintances.

Betty
Betty
I predict this app will add a bit of turbulence to the marriage of this middle-aged couple. Though not so much of the "Hey! Why is Betty stopping by Tom and Vicky's house? Isn't Vicky visiting her mother in Houston this week? Dear God, how could she do this to me?!" variety, but rather we'll see the more pedestrian, "Betty knows my favorite dinner rolls are from the bakery downtown, so why the fuck is she going to the supermarket? How long has she been pulling this fast-one on me? That's it, no more post dinner foot rubs for her!"

Chuckle Bros
Chuckle Bros
This would have been an awful joke when the song was a hit, 11 flippin' years ago! Now, it's simply unconscionable. Who do I petition for the immediate cancelation of this strip?

Cornered
Cornered
Ug. Another outdated joke. Jim Carrey's wild slapstick humor also peaked 11 years ago.

Flo and Friends
Flo and Friends
First Treggie gives her grandma a girdle for Christmas, then she cheerfully exclaims she's going to return the gift given to her by that same grandma. I guess by "sensitive" Flo means, "horribly insensitive."

Herb and Jamaal
Herb and Jamaal
Ernie is also the name of the cab driver in It's a Wonderful Life. Nice little detail by Stephan Bentley, creator of this comic strip.

Off the Mark
Off The Mark
Usually puns in the comics are awful, but this one is cute.

What the Duck
What the Duck
Another well executed pun. What gives?

Okay, that all for today. See you next year!

-Peter

Lack of Friday

Hey, Cara here. Sorry I haven't been able to post. Long story short, school is kicking my butt and things got busy almost out of nowhere. I've been wanting to make a post but I just haven't had the time to go through all the comics. Today I really cant even make a long post since its late and I need to catch up on some sleep I've been missing.

Firstly one lone comic made me laugh today:
Pinkerton:

I guess I'm just a sucker for wordplay jokes, even if they just involve spitting on a person.

And then there was two comics that gave me a similar reaction. That reaction is "ewww"
Off the Mark & Love Is:

To Off the Marks credit. At least it didn't make me reach for the brain bleach.
I hope to never have to think about Love Is characters merging ever again.

And now I must bid you goodnight before I fall asleep on my laptop.
