The DCR is Fully Armed and Operational: Commence Primary Ignition

Before we get to the review, did you all notice the amazing new banner we have at the Daily Comics Review? Our good friend (dare we make that assumption) Steven Cloud of Boy on a Stick and Slither fame offered to create this piece of art for the website and we couldn't be happier! On last time, thanks so very much Steven! On to the comics.

Amazing Super Powers 3/30/09
Amazing Super Powers 3/30/09
Top 5 ways to receive a favorable review on the DCR:
1: Make a funny and original comic
2: Boobies
3: Make misogynistic, sexist jokes in jest.
4: Be Jeffrey Rowland
5: .........boobies.

Archie
3/30/09
Archie 3/30/09
That's really more of a forehead book. Betty has a t-shirt on with a bear that has a stick in his eye and is sticking it's tongue out. The logo, along with the tattered edge along her stomach is signaling a return to Trailer Park Chic fashion; I should have probably left this one for Stella. If there was a fourth panel today I'm sure it would have been Archie saying "Well Betty how about some Facecrotch time?"

Gil Thorpe 3/30/09
Gil Thorpe 3/30/09
The funny thing about today's Gil Thorpe comic strip is that if in some alternate universe sexual intercourse became a team sport, it would make just as much sense. Is Gil getting ready to karate chop his TV in panel 3?

If you enjoy cross-overs in comics then this next week in LICD should be one for the record books. If you aren't reading this web comic already, now is a great time to start! Message to Ryan North: the sooner you create a T-Rex action figure, the sooner this miniature sized T-Rex hole in my heart can be filled.

Saturday:The Week in Comics Review

Welcome one and all to your Saturday DCR. I still haven't come up with a good title and no one seems to want to help. But I'll struggle through and try to say some funny shit anyway. With that here's what we have this week:

Snapshots 1/12/09
When I first saw the panel I thought it would be something about Almost-Former-President Bush. It really would be funnier if it was, the only thing that saves this from being completely boring is the divide by zero comment. I'm not sure why he needs to be swinging from a chandelier to claim that, but I'm not a professional. And I don't think that's such a bad thing, if someone could figure out how to divide by zero I think mathematicians would like to know about it. I know I would.

Least I could Do 1/12/09
I don't really get this one. So, he had a dream that he was the Hulk and smashed her in the back? Wouldn't it be funnier if she'd dreamt that she was She-Hulk and punched him in the dick? I think that would be hilarious, but I'm kind of a bastard sometimes.

Zack Hill 1/12/09This is good because it's true. My parents don't know what texting is about and what all the abbreviations mean. However, I think that if they cared to learn they would probably know what LOL means since it's the most basic shortening of all.

Also, if they'd been texting all day, why did he wait until now to mention his dead cat? Did it die because he was texting and forgot to feed it? That seems like the most likely explanation to me.

The Weekly Comics Review?

God damn I am lame, sorry, I'm trying to prove myself at work.

There need to be more foods, placed inside other foods, then again inserted in a larger food and cooked. Mish-mashed and smashed combined food names For The Win. Pumpertato is the best I have heard about since the Macatacahodo 360.

Say hello to Gary Larson for the year 2008.

Get Fuzzy 11/17/08
Get Fuzzy 11/17/08
This scene just begs to be animated, but who the hell could you get to do Bucky's voice with any credibility? Maybe that Gilbert Gottfried guy.

Least I Could Do 11/17/08
Least I Could Do 11/17/08
I was just thinking to myself "Man it has been a really long time since there were any completely inappropriate and misogynistic jokes in LICD and therefor reposted on my blog." Thanks for reading my mind Ryan Sohmer, and have a great wedding/Honeymoon!

Bob The Squirrel 11/21/08
Bob The Squirrel 11/21/08
This maybe be the only time you will ever see a squirrel with half his body inside a little girl's mouth. It's kind of one of those things you can't unsee, but it isn't that gross compared to the other "wonders of the internet".

Cow and Boy 11/17/08
Cow and Boy 11/17/08
I got really excited when this strip came out Monday, thinking it meant we would be seeing the results of Boy's lack of.... intelligence, for the rest of the week. Alas it was not to be, and we can only hope the creator decides to return to this potentially great storyline some time in the future.

Crock 11/17/08
Croc 11/17/08
Is this really appropriate for the comics page? You pass a kidney stone by peeing it out, and those things can be very jagged. And two pounds? The idea of something like that coming out of me through a spot like that..... ::shudder::, not the ha ha ha you'd think they were going for.

Judge Parker 11/20/08
Judge Parker 11/20/08
Ok everybody get this: Sam Driver is taking a taxi! Get it? Driver - taking a taxi, god I kill myself.

Zits 11/18/08
Zits 11/18/08
Yes a bad comic but it remind me of a funny story. I had these buddies in college who took highlighters and wrote stuff ALL OVER their dorm room walls. When highlighter dries it is very hard to make out on off-white walls so they never got in any trouble and it's not like the college took great care of the place so they never painted the walls. They drew pentagrams and scary devil things along with awful song lyrics and other drug-induced rantings. Imagine moving in to a room as a freshman and you think you're all cool with your blacklight and you turn it on one night and discover all the horrible things on your walls that have been hiding there all along.

Alley Oop 11/18/08
Alley Oop 11/18/08
Gravity in Oop's land is roughly 1/4 that of earth's so having conversations while in a free fall is a pretty normal occurrence. God the Bender's are some lazy ass cartoonists.

The Bizarre Synchronistic Comics Review

We have some truly strange similarities today across the funny pages that we will be pointing out shortly, but first we have a couple of regularly weird comics for you to enjoy!

Mark Trail 10/6/08
Mark Trail 10/6/08
What is that evil lady doing to our dear friend Sue the Talking Alligator? It's not enough that she's draining Sue's precious habitat and ruining her way of life.

The New Adventure of Queen Victoria 10/6/08
The New Adventure of Queen Victoria 10/6/08
You thought you'd had enough of Sarah Palin jokes last week? WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED! Don't forget most comic strips have a few weeks of lead time so stuff being submitted today, in most cases, wont be printed till almost Halloween.

Least I Could Do 10/6/08
Least I Could Do 10/6/08
Thank God LICD is finally getting back to what they're best at: horribly offensive but hilarious sex jokes. I bet they could actually option this show and HBO or STARS would pick it up.

Off the Mark 10/6/08

Mother Goose & Grimm 10/6/08
Mother Goose & Grimm 10/6/08
Pretty weird huh? They at least tried to come up with a hypothetical name in OTM. Would have gone with smellmyass.com but I'm willing to bet that site is already taken.

F Minus 10/6/08
F Minus 10/6/08
Zack Hill 10/6/08
Zack Hill 10/6/08
So what are the odds that this would happen to two different strips twice on one day? As some consolation we do have a dog and a cat this time, but still.... there must be some sort of cartoonist mindmeld going on. Maybe the big pot of ideas they all take inspiration from is running low.

Bryce Explains Comics and Lazyness

So yesterday I actually spent all day at work..... working. After work it was 175 degrees out, thus making the loft where my computer is located unbearable hot. So that is why there was no Thursday Haiku Review. I promise next week's post will be twice as good but with the same number of syllables. Now that I've explained myself I have some awesome news to share with all the DCR fans out there! Brian Hall, author extraordinaire, fellow comics critic and owner of Losers Are Made Not Born, will be joining the staff of the Daily Comics Review! Brian will take over comic reviews for Saturdays and possible more duties in the future, so tune in tomorrow and leave him a comment if you like what he has to say! We're very excited to have him on staff!

Liberty Meadows

Liberty Meadows
I wont be explaining the bizarre storyline Liberty Meadows has been following the last few week, lets just all hope that it's finally over. Any group called Rimmer's Rangers needs t-shirt and membership cards so they can show off to all their friends.

The Amazing Spider-Man 8/15/08
The Amazing Spider-Man, bitch slap comic
Not a whole lot to comment on about here, I just feel it's important to document any time there is a bitch slap in the comics, for the benefit of future generations.

Brainwaves 8/15/08
brainwaves
If squirrels could shoot webs out of their asses and poison bite you to death, I wouldn't have to feel so bad every time I see one that got hit by a car. Brake for squirrels!

Overcompensating 8/14/08
overcompensating, bigfoot comic
If you haven't been paying attention to geopolitical or cryptozoological news the last few days, this comic should apprise you of the current situation for both fields. You're welcome.
