What Will Mary Choose? Twitter or Suicide?

Social networking sites have been making the rounds in the comics lately with jokes about tweeting and poking and flickring.  Mary Worth is about to get a lesson about tweeting from Wilbur which will no doubt take something already kind of boring to learn about into new realms of boredom.

Mary Worth

What's with the angle in the last panel?  Is Mary about to have an accident or is she going to kill herself rather than subject herself to an online she may not be able to escape.  Also, follow me on Twitter.

Speaking of social networking...
Sherman's Lagoon
Sherman's Lagoon
Sherman is learning just how dangerous Facebook can be--without even being contacted by prisoners and child rapists.

Beetle Bailey
Beetle Bailey
You would think Beetle would know by now that Sarge is not swayed by beautiful sunsets overlooking gorgeous vistas.  Beetle could've just led Sarge up the mountain and dropped his pants to get about the same reaction.

Ziggy
Ziggy
Poor Ziggy.  He's just minding his own business watching the latest "The Biggest Loser" with a rare smile on his face and now some mouse, who has somehow obtained experience in interior decorating, says he has to go.  It's one thing when waiters, dry cleaners and vending machines insult Ziggy but it's crossing the line when actually insulting Ziggy when he's happy.

Birdbrains

This comic frightens me.  It frightens me a lot.

Nothing wrong with this.  I just liked it.

That's it for today, now go read my site.

I Scream...You Scream

It's Sunday.

Self-promotion.

Onto the comics.

Mary Worth 7/18/10

At least we now know why the good doctor hasn't called. He doesn't know how to operate his cell phone. And all of Jenna's email (from her @charterstone.net address) immediately get sent, unread, into the spam folder.

I'm just fascinated by the synchronicity going on in these strips. Move on to the next comic.

The problem I have with people comparing Facebook and other social networking sites to Orwell's "1984" is that posted any and everything on Facebook is voluntary whereas Big Brother in "1984" was against everybody's will. You don't have to post stuff on Facebook or Twitter, however you do have to obey Big Brother.

The Family Circus 7/18/10

Yeah, like your wimp of a father will protect you from a killer whale, great white shark, piranhas, jellyfish and octopi.

Watch Your Head 7/18/10
Watch Your Head
Hmm, I wonder what happened in Calvin's childhood that caused him to run off and create an entirely different identity. My guess is Calvin's parents let him roam around in the woods one too many times and Calvin was abducted. Or something happened to Suzie and it caused Calvin to become unhinged.

The Born Loser 7/18/10
Born Loser
Today is Ice Cream Day. Go out and get yourself some ice cream. Ice cream is good and good for you.* As for the comic: what? But if you are out of small, how can you still have medium and large? The mind...she hurts. I guess this could be a way to get people to spend more in these troubling economic times.

Or the ice cream man just wants a punch in the face.

*While ice cream is good, it is not necessarily good for you.

Sunday Comics Featuring a Fist O' Justice

Hope you all had a good Christmas or whatever you all celebrate. How many of you checked out the massive X-Mas X-Travaganza on the 25th? Well, if you haven't, do it after this entry. The odd panel featuring someone apparently about to punch a helpless old lady is from today's Brenda Starr. I enjoyed the fist so much that I just had to include it because, in all honesty, there are surprisingly few fist close-ups on the comics pages anymore. Now, onto the comics.

The Argyle Sweater 12/27/09

It took me a minute to understand the joke in this comic. Somehow I don't see Jimmy Stewart going into a Hooters.

Cul De Sac 12/27/09

I'm not making any resolutions this year. I typically fail mine sometime in February or March anyway. What the hell is going on in the first four panels?

Mary Worth 12/27/09

Ignoring the awesomeness of Wilbur's possible illegitimate son arriving spontaneously on his doorstoop, Wilbur can't get off of his fat ass to answer the door but he'll haul his butt into the kitchen to fix those 17 bologna sandwiches he made a week ago?

Nest Heads 12/27/09

Ooh, a history lesson. Archduke Ferdinand (not to be confused with silent comic strip star Ferd'nand) was assassinated in 1914 which ultimately led to World War I. The thing is, Gavrilo Princip killed Ferdinand, not the year 1914 so I think all the year is going to do is be moody and ignore everyone by either texting or not taking his damned iPod earbuds out.

Ziggy 12/27/09

Goddammit, Ziggy! It's 10 degrees outside! Do you ever wear any pants?!!

Todd the Dinosaur 12/27/09

Why didn't they throw those oranges away when they got that bad? I agree that men suck at doing grocery shopping. They need to have a list or 1)they'll buy a bunch of junk that will just sit around or 2)they'll buy just enough for a couple of days so they will just have to get out and get more.

My Cage 12/27/09

I've never watched "It's a Wonderful Life" all the way through. I want to and I do like the movie but I've never watched it all the way through. And I'm sorry but not liking a movie is no reason to throw someone off of a bridge.

Adam @ Home 12/27/09

Yeah, no one wants to see Adam's sweatpant bulge anyway.

Heaven's Love Thrift Shop 12/27/09

Yeah, and do you know why it worked for "A Charlie Brown Christmas"? Because even in 1965, Peanuts was a beloved comic strip and everyone could identify with Charlie Brown's hatred of Christmas commercialism and Linus basically reminding all of us that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ. You, Heaven's Love... whatever it is, are just usurping a wonderful Christmas tradition and using it for your own idiotic purposes.

Fun fact: CBS originally didn't want Linus to quote from the Bible but Charles Schulz and Bill Melendez fought to keep it in. I'm not religious but good for them.

The Buckets 12/27/09

Uh, the creepy yellow insane kid in my kitchen?

The Phantom 12/27/09

Is...Is the Phantom going to rape that kid?

Sherman's Lagoon 12/27/09

Is...Is Sherman going to rape Fillmore?

Over-Analyzation

Today, I over-analyze things and I'm probably not very humorous at all. At least there's a bunch of words for you to read, eh? Yeah. Maybe someday I'll learn humor. For now, read on:

La Cucaracha, 11/19/09

TACO CART GUY'S TACOS ARE MADE FROM PEOPLE!

Crock, 11/19/09

Moskos should just kill Crock. Doing it with the machine gun would have been quick and easy, but I'm betting that doing him in with the shovel would be far more satisfying and fun. Also, he could bury the body when he was done! Very convenient.

Wit of the World, 11/19/09

Here's some stuff from Italy and Israel. I want to bring your attention to the second one, with the man who inexplicably has a hole in his head that shoots light out of it. Also, he's crossing his legs in a very dainty, almost lady-like, manner. We should all fear this man, especially since the hole in that helmet should, in no way, line up with the one on his head. Ah, and he may be on the moon, which may explain everything.

Frog Applause, 11/19/09

Wouldn't the top part of a Pop Tart just be the frosting and, perhaps, some of its innards? Whatever that... girl, I guess, is doing, she's not eating just the top part. She's eating the whole thing, which is the equivalent of a man drinking a can of "Sprite" and saying how much he likes drinking "Pepsi".

Sherman's Lagoon, 11/19/09

I only put this up because the concept of a Yeti Crab fascinates me, especially since he seems to be living in sin with the Loch Ness Monster. However, once I did a tiny bit of research, I found out that the Yeti Crab isn't mythical at all. Just sort of new. Also, it's frequently called the "furry lobster" which just sounds wrong.

Arctic Circle, 11/19/09

I have no idea why Oscar looks so down in the last panel. Is it because there were no hits? Is it because people were saying nasty things about him? I decided to do a Google search. The first page primarily features Oscar Wilde, then it just devolves into nonsense after that. The images are just a bunch 0f random pictures, including one of the comic strip character. So I have no idea what he's so down about, unless he really dislikes Oscar Wilde for some reason.

Monday Comics Fest

Why yes I had a fantastic time at Stumptown Comics Fest over the weekend, thanks for asking! I met some very nice creators who I will give props to at a later time and it was great to see all the freaks and weirdos who go to big public events like that. It's good to feel normal, if only on the outside.

If web comic creators were to rule the world, Macatacahodo 360's would be the official party food, lots of good ideas would be awkwardly implemented, and existence as a whole would be a lot quirkier. There would be a lot more alcoholics too.

There have been a few examples so far this month where people were saying "God that was awful, why didn't he save it until the end of the month contest?" Oh just you wait! A bird, that is purple, with a ribbon around it's neck? If you don't know what one looks like, or how to draw a parakeet, don't just draw an impossibly colored chicken. We need a new term for people who are SO LAZY they wont even look on Google to find something out. I hope nothing else happens that is this bad again or I am going to snap, I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE TODAY!

God I'm such an advertising whore. Oh wait, none of that shit exists yet, I'm in a comic that's supposed to be set in the middle-ages! At least I still have this handgun ::BLAM::
