The Failed Marriage App

Barkeater Lake

Barkeater Lake
Hahaha! Newspapers are dying, along with old acquaintances.

Betty
Betty
I predict this app will add a bit of turbulence to the marriage of this middle-aged couple. Though not so much of the "Hey! Why is Betty stopping by Tom and Vicky's house? Isn't Vicky visiting her mother in Houston this week? Dear God, how could she do this to me?!" variety, but rather we'll see the more pedestrian, "Betty knows my favorite dinner rolls are from the bakery downtown, so why the fuck is she going to the supermarket? How long has she been pulling this fast-one on me? That's it, no more post dinner foot rubs for her!"

Chuckle Bros
Chuckle Bros
This would have been an awful joke when the song was a hit, 11 flippin' years ago! Now, it's simply unconscionable. Who do I petition for the immediate cancelation of this strip?

Cornered
Cornered
Ug. Another outdated joke. Jim Carrey's wild slapstick humor also peaked 11 years ago.

Flo and Friends
Flo and Friends
First Treggie gives her grandma a girdle for Christmas, then she cheerfully exclaims she's going to return the gift given to her by that same grandma. I guess by "sensitive" Flo means, "horribly insensitive."

Herb and Jamaal
Herb and Jamaal
Ernie is also the name of the cab driver in It's a Wonderful Life. Nice little detail by Stephan Bentley, creator of this comic strip.

Off the Mark
Off The Mark
Usually puns in the comics are awful, but this one is cute.

What the Duck
What the Duck
Another well executed pun. What gives?

Okay, that all for today. See you next year!

Weekly Saturday Review

Hello again, and welcome to The Saturday Comics Week in Review. That's a long title for such a simple concept, but it was the best I could come up with this week. Maybe it will stick, maybe it will be replaced by something even longer and more complicated. But that's not why you've visited today, on to the comics!

Basic Instructions 4/13/09
Photobucket
I have never been to an IKEA and, to my knowledge, have never owned a piece of their furniture. This does not stop me from hating them with great passion. From what I understand, IKEA is basically the Scandinavian version of Wal-Mart. With this understanding, I can determine that IKEA sells garbage to stupid people at a marginal discount, $1.93 instead of $1.99 for example. All that being said, however, buying some crap from IKEA is a better idea than buying a couch from someone that you don't intimately know. Take the case of the cat in the couch for example. Would you want a cat living in your sofa? I didn't think so.

Eek! 4/14/09
Photobucket
"Well that all fine and good, but your head is shaped like a human anus. Wait, I have an idea! Why don't we just call you Mr. Asshead? It's like a nick-name because it's fun for us and it can't really insult you because your head is shaped like an ass."

"Just kidding, we don't hire people with asses for heads."

Betty 4/16/09
Photobucket
Because that's what parents do in real life. All the parents I know watch intently as their children slice hookers with samurai swords and shoot cops with AK-47s. Of course, most of the parents I know are giving tips on where the bazooka is and the most efficient way to steal the tank. And none of them even own a Bible.

W.T. Duck 4/17/09
Photobucket
Isn't that what every artist wants when they ask for an opinion? We don't want to know what sucks, we just want you to tell us why you like it, even if you don't. That's why I don't consider myself part of that group. Please, tell me what you like and especially tell me what you don't like. I would love to know what you hate about my writings, it makes me better at what I do.

Webcomic of the Week will be up late tonight so you might want to read it tomorrow.

#301-A Saturday Session

Welcome one and all to another edition of the Weekly Comics Review only on Saturday. We have as many comics today as Bryce posted all week, so be prepared.

Blondie 3/25/09
Photobucket
When was this written? It must be 5 years ago. Well, I guess it could have been written last week and this is the futile attempt of a comic strip trying to be modern.

They might as well have said "Mr. Bumsted is totally rad and tubular".

That might have been more funny.

Beetle Bailey 3/24/09
Photobucket
Beetle looks like he is going to puke. Is that a racing strategy? Puke at the starting line so all your opponents are grossed out and you can win easily.

At least it wasn't another joke about how the Army has a rigid command system.

What the Duck 3/24/09
Photobucket
This is exactly how it goes. We slave away, doing quality work and then some jackass comes in with his retarded picture of a cat sleeping (or something equally dumb) and it's the biggest thing since StarWars Kid.

What I'm getting at is that you should go click on the button that says donate. It's right over on the side bar. On your left. No, your other left, stupid. There you go, now click donate $10,000. You don't have $10,000? Well, go find it, we'll wait for you.

I'm sick of waiting, on to the other comics.

Chuckle Bros 3/23/09
Photobucket
This is the dumbest word play I have ever seen. Chuckle Bros receives a D-, they avoided a FAIL because of the subtlety.

Phantom 3/23/09
Photobucket
Our compatriot, Mike P, at Meekrat Entertainment has been following this Phantom storyline since it began in the 1700's. I can only imagine his glee when he saw the Croccos jumping off a boat yet again. It is the only thing in the story that isn't completly stupid and boring.

The New Adventures of Queen Victoria 3/23/09
Photobucket
I'm going to ignore the main point of the comic for fear of another backlash. Instead I'm going to draw your attention to the upper-right of the last panel. See what it says?

I agree with the statement 100%. I am over her and if we stop paying attention to her, she might just go away, or do a Playboy shoot or something.

Soup to Nutz 3/24/09
Photobucket
Only if you teach him to drink a lot.

Or if you teach him to play Beer Pong.

That's all folks. No Webcomic of the Week because I was too busy to compile a review this week. Sorry, but you'll have to deal with it.
