Because His Cholesterol Isn't Through the Roof
It's Saturday. Let's get started.
It's Saturday. Let's get started.
Later in this post, I make allusions to my least favorite comic strip. It's not one of the ones I post about at my own blog, and I plan on never posting one of its hell-spawn here. On with the post, including a pithy PSA-style thing at the end. Just like GI Joe!
Heathcliff, 8/14/09
The guy who... "writes" this is aware that there's an American version of the show, right? It's been around for three years, according to the IMDB. So there's really no reason to specify that this is a knock-off of the British version. Also, I'm wondering if spin-off might have been a better choice of phrase. Then again, the Heathcliff guy is making the big bucks for doing this comic strip, so I guess he knows what he's doing. Is he aware that the only thing most people remember about Heathcliff is that he had a cartoon in the 80's? Probably not.
Lola, 8/14/09
I know Lola just tosses out pop culture references like an ADHD-version of "Family Guy", but this one is just absurd. For one, I doubt some kid (here assumed to be anyone under the age of 13) knows what the heck a Jurassic Park is. If they do, more power to them. Two, and spoiler alert I guess, but the first movie and book ended with most of the humans escaping the island while all the dinosaurs got exploded. So Lola shouldn't look too pleased, as she pretty much just told the kid she's get exploded.
Rudy Park, 8/14/09
Best Rudy Park ever! However, I can't let my dislike of the strip (it's pretty high on the list of strips I dislike, right under Mallard Fillmore, Prickly City, Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee, and my all-time most hated comic strip which I won't name here) detract from the fact that Misters Bell and Heir are having some trouble, so if you like this strip you should go support them by going to their web site and buying some stuff. In fact, you should do this for all your favorite strips. Besides, if comic strips die out, then blogs like this one will, too. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!
Saturday already?! Damn, time flies when you're sitting on your ass, playing videogames. I've got a whole slew of stuff for you this week, so let's get started.
Slow Wave 3/9/09
This is the best, and most hilarious, evidence for evolution that I've heard to date. Now what can all the creationists say? We've proven that there are organisms that are sad about how everything else evolved, there's nothing more to say.
Piranha Club 3/10/09
It's a good thing that it was a man that got a fish stuffed down his pants; a woman wouldn't have been able to tell.
Damn, that was a good one.
Just kidding ladies, I know you don't all smell like rotten fish. The ones in Piranha Club do though.
Rudy Park 3/11/09
Did Jessica Simpson gain weight? I thought everyone hated her because they finally realized that she has no talent; wow, was I wrong.
And come on people, it's been a couple months, let the man do some work before calling him a failure. Bush failed on an epic scale for 8 years, the least we can do for Obama is give him 2 years to try his stuff.
Also, Republicans are stupid, for the most part.
Oh, and Democrats are stupid too, again for the most part.
See, it is possible to be bipartisan.
Frank & Earnest 3/9/09
This being a Frank & Earnest joke, shouldn't the box be upside-down? And who does putting-together-furniture-is-hard jokes anymore? I think everyone has gotten the message that Ikea makes crappy stuff that is difficult to put together. It's not much of a joke if everyone already knows the punchline.
Ah, that was refreshing, wasn't it? I must go now and prepare for something very exciting that you shall hear about very soon.
Happy USA Birthday to all my fans out there! I hope you all take some time to celebrate America today by blowing up a small portion of it. Please be safe enough to keep all your appendages today but crazy enough to still have a good time.
Close to Home 7/4/08
Except the time the cartoonist forgot to draw Kevin's window open. God this comic is so lazy it's embarrassing.
Dick Tracy 7/4/08
The amazingly creepy up-close faces of Dick Tracy make a return and this time they seem to have multiplied. And Dick makes the comics page look bad again with a lazy cartoonist who can't even look up what M.O. really means. Even I know it stands for modus operandi, or translates to mode of operation. It's sad a comic about a detective does so little investigation themselves.
Hi and Loise 7/4/08
Big Bang = creation of the universe - not the USA, even though I'm pretty sure the Flagston doesn't believe anything else exists outside America. If ever one family could use a little less big banging it would be this earth-overpopulating menace of six.
Rudy Park 7/4/08
Even though it's not an editorial comic, Rudy Park has the best artistic representation of Grampy McSame around right now. After devoting a whole week to how much anger this little man has, we all owe our thanks to RP.
