Your Evening Daily Comics for 7/26/08
The beach was awesome and I got in some much needed rest and relaxation. Our schedule should be back to normal with daily comics updates around noon west coast USA time almost every day. I've got a lot going on throughout August but you'll be given the heads up if things will be different! Lets all give a round of applause to Eric for filling in for big pappa here yesterday. He did a great job and you'll probably be seeing more of him in August. I'll shut up and get to gettin.
Close to Home 7/26/08
Answer this question.
The biggest problem with today's Close to Home comic strip is:
1: John McPherson forgot to draw the water.
2:The women don't have nearly large enough calves drawn to have jumped up to the couch.
3:The lamp has no electrical outlet.
Correct Answer: It's not funny
Big Top 7/26/08
This might be the first sarcastic poodle on the comics page. Can I keep him Pa?
Also I just found out that Big Top is just being repeated and stopped being new in March of last year, and that I need to update my current comics list!
Gil Thorpe 7/26/08
There's no stopping that terrorist fist bump!
Ginger Meggs 7/26/08
The only possible meaning for "bulldust" I could surmise was some sort of ultra G-rated version of Bullshit. After figuring that puzzler out I was even more confused why it was then OK to draw Ginger with an asshole for a mouth. Any ideas?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 7/26/08
Anti-government tax jokes are even older that gas price jokes but how many 9 year olds pay taxes? Is there a previously-unknown-to-me contigent of cantakerous aging republicans who religiously follow TMNT? You'd think the french fish man might turn off some of the same people they're trying to bring in as new readers.

Not to defend Close to Home, which is the least funny, most belabored, and poorly drawn strip in syndication, but there's no water since these morons are just preparing for a flood, not actually suffering from one. Har har.
Actually, there is water, but the colourist made it pink for some reason.
Also, yes, bulldust means bullshit. It's probably an Australian thing.
bulldust = bullshit
In Australia bulldust is the name given to a very fine dust that usually edges the roads in the outback. Sometimes the bulldust can be several feet deep and if a vehicle goes off the road onto the shoulder, it can become bogged even though there's no water present.
