I know playing "cowboy vs. Indians" is politically incorrect and it should technically be "U.S. Cavalry vs. Indians" or something like that but I'm starting to get to sneaking suspicion that Jef Mallett had a terrible childhood and that he sniffs his own farts.

Speaking of farts, that's what that web address looks like "fartin' cookie dot com". You know, a quick search shows that fortunecookie.com is taken but fortune_cookie.com isn't. Why didn't
Speed Bump guy use fortune_cookie.com instead of frtn_cookie.com?

I think the farting cookie in Speed Bump is the unfortunate collision of several factors:
1. The syndicate probably requires the lettering to be a certain height and width
2. The author (or maybe the editor) didn't think that a URL would be understandable to a newspaper audience unless it had both 'WWW.' and '.COM' in it
3. The artist *probably* had already drawn the speech bubble prior to adding text. Evidence of this can be seen how the speech bubble obscures the background, and the background just barely doesn't line up behind it.
...of course that doesn't explain why they couldn't use WWW.FORTNCOOKIE.COM
My personal conspiracy theory is that there was an edgy joke on that fortune cookie that got censored. Forced to change it to a somewhat overused internet joke, the author got their revenge by intentionally spelling so that we would read it as "fartin' cookie."
