Crankshaft is one of the worst comics on the funny pages right now. Go ahead and read the strip below before I massacre it.

Is there a joke here that is flying over my head? I've read and reread this comic and there is nothing of value here anywhere! The strip doesn't forward any of the menial plot lines currently in progress and there is no joke as far as I can tell. Just for this strip alone, all of the papers that run Crankshaft should call up King Syndicates and cancel their contracts.

Judging by the happy-go-lucky nature of the Batiuk Comic Empire (Crankshaft and Funky Winkerbean), I'd say the "joke" is that the rain is forcing the house's occupants to close their windows, trapping the insecticide fumes indoors, causing them all to contract horrible cancer and DIE.
Funny, no?
I think, THINK, that the rain is washing away all the poison that the guys just put down. That's all I can figure anyway, but I've never actually dealt with pest control. It's supposed to be some kind of irony, bright and sunny for them to do the work; then it rains and undoes everything you just paid them to do.
Yeah, this is what passes for humor in the Funky-verse.
