Friday Comic Strip Explosion! 5/30/08

We've got the most daily comic strips ever today for our amazing readers! Print comics won out the week in a landslide over web comics with both the best and the worst of the week. So without any further delay....

Brevity 5/30/08

Brevity and Bizarro are my two favorite single panel comics currently in print and this strip is a perfect example why. A simple play on words and simple but creative art combine with a little bit of offensive humor for a great pay-off!

The Better Half 5/30/08

And then we have the other end of the spectrum for single panel comics. Sorry Better Half but I can't buy that we'll be going to China when we die, although we have already started getting our babies from the far east.

Nancy 5/30/08

I actually like the art style of the Nancy strip. The coloring and shading is great and it's nice to see an artist push themselves outside of their normal routine. I have to call Nancy on one point though. Her humor is not too hip for her dojo, it hasn't been hip since the 1920's, sorry hedgehog head.

Diesel Sweeties 5/30/08

And we go right back to the shock humor! The look on Clango's face is priceless.

The New Adventures of Queen Victoria 5/30/08

Besides having the longest comic strip name I have ever seen, TNAQV has a very different style (if you couldn't tell) and if you enjoy this comic, check out more of the strip at their website. I know we don't do politics here (so far) but I have to say Michelle Malkin is a freaking idiot, thanks to this strip for pointing it out in a humorous way.

Judge Parker 5/30/08
Photobucket
If you've been following JP (and how could you not?) you know about the neighbors being busted recently for growing pot on their family farm. It's been boring as hell, but now we're finding out Elvira and Biff caught that old reefer madness virus. Poor hippies, if we could only find a cure!

Popeye 5/30/08
Photobucket
What the hell is up with this whole week of suicide comics in Popeye? I thought this was a comic for kids for Pete's sake! And why would they be so against suicide in Haggsville, the most miserable place in the world? I mean, just think about it logically.

Mal and Chad 5/30/08
Photobucket
Mal and Chad reminds me a lot of one of my favorite strips, Cul De Sac. I don't think M&C is as consistently funny, but today was great. Just the way Zachary talks down to Mal the whole comic until Mal brings up Mr. Snozzle. Ha ha!

(Thanks for the heads-up, and the plug, Bryce.)

I'm not sure about Popeye, since I haven't read it in years. (Isn't it only in about 50 papers? I know it's nowhere near me.) However, isn't it likely that Olive is trying to pull a Lois-Lane style stunt, trying to get Popeye to rescue her?

Hey, if Alice the Goon hasn't offed herself yet, then there must be some kind of antidepressant in the water there, which would cut down the suicide rate.
