There are Still Funny Comics! 7/16/08
Today we've got continuity issues, color problems and failed satire followed up by incorrect sound effects, sexual economy and dick jokes. Who would have thought all this goodness could show up in just one day in the comics? This has been a landmark week for print comics and web comics and this blog! Google has been giving me great page ranking and more and more people find DCR every day. Welcome to all our new readers and thanks to everybody that comes and reads my comics ramblings every day.
XKCD 7/16/08
An illustration of the perfect web comic today with XKCD. It is so simple and elegant with just enough inappropriateness to keep it out of the newspapers.

Besides breaking the comic strip rule of show (draw) instead of tell (write it out), a gun would only be making a WHAM! sound if Cherry was smashing Kelly Welly in the skull with it. You wouldn't find anybody opposed to that idea, but instead the artist went the family friendly route. Next time I'd just go with BLAM! for that classic gun sound effect touch.
Herd And Jamaal 7/16/08
Who labels their coffee mugs with their names? This must be a result of Sarah going overboard after she found Herb wearing her undergarments. "How was I supposed to know they were YOUR panties?" And the rest is history, thanks to the label gun.
Jack Ohman 7/16/08
How can you write about comics and not comment about the hoopla surrounding the New Yorker's Barack Obama cover? My answer is to post this comic as a cop-out and not say anything else!
We The Robots 7/16/08
The robot overlord boss strongly reminds me of the amazing game Portal from Valve. There's also something about dancing robots you can't ignore.
Barney Google & Snuffy Smith 7/16/08
Things we can learn from today's BG&SS:
1-Cartoonists and colorists have communication problems.
2-Whoever colors the strip hates it so much they don't even bother to read the dialog.
3-Peppermint fixes stomach cramps?
Archie 7/16/08
I'm sorry but did something happen in Archie today? I apologize for asking but I was distracted by THE GIANT CAMELTOE in all 3 panels. There are some contours you're just not supposed to draw - especially in a family friendly comic like Archie claims to be.
Diesel Sweeties web comic 7/16/08
It's the biggest comic we've ever featured on DCR but it needed to be done. Richard Stevens hits the perfect mix of business/economics lingo and body objectification to satisfy my inner BA nerd needs. It is rare, even in web comics, to see so much dialog that actually ends up being worth your time once you get done reading it. So read it already!
