Crabs, Robots, and Ink
Hey everyone!
Zachary, the Stupid Inventor, back again with this weeks comic review!
The Bad:Beetle Bailey: She had these made? Exploding cigars are an old school novelty item, although you can't really get them today because they are too dangerous. I feel like this strip was written 50 years ago... seriously is this a rerun?
Better Half: Looks like we got the "Worse Half" today (see what I did there?)... this picture/caption are just to generic to really be laugh out loud funny...
1. "Got anything to help me have better hindsight?"
2. "I'm here for my eye exam, is anyone HERE?"
3. "How do these glasses stay on my face if they're so far away from my ears?"
See? Three more captions that are just as blah and interchangeable...
Mary Worth: Since I commented on the strip last week, I've been reading Mary Worth... wow what an annoying strip... did the doctor really just say "It's not her, it's me..." wow
The Weird:Pardon My Planet: I'm not even going to get into the weird joke here, my main concern is "Why the heck are robots wearing exercise clothes?!?!? or even jogging for that matter! they don't have muscles... "
The Knight Life: Hey! Don't insult webcomics! They rock! and a webcomic drawn by a great grandmother would be AWESOME and I would definitley check it out... wonder if I could convince my great grandmother to start drawing one....
Knitpicks:
I decided to add another section to my comic review, since these comments don't really detract for the humor of the strip itself, they really are just minor knitpicks...Spiderman: We discussed this story line last week, but my question today is why isn't Iron Man more concerned about almost killing Spiderman, one would think acting involuntarily would be of more cause for alarm, definitley alerting some super buddies to help you out....
The Wizard Of Id: So/So strip, again my only question is why they chose to have the king yell "yeearrrr"? to me it looks like he's screaming the word "Year"....it just looks weird to me now as opposed to writing "yaaaarrrr".
Lio: I like this strip, and Lio always rocks, my only nitpick is that Mark Tatulli always tries to use as few words as possible in this strip, and so I feel the bumper sticker in unnecessary, it would be funny without it. Plus I feel like aliens would have a funnier bumper sticker (they are more advanced lifeforms after all) and it would probably be in an alien language....
Hagar The Horrible: One last nitpick, this strip isn't so funny, bad had the cartoonist and syndicate been in touch with as many of it's clients as possible and gotten them to change the title above the strip to "Hagar The Not-So-Bad" for the day it would have been AWESOME! At least in my book, lol, I'm a sucker for that shtick.
The Good:
Off The Mark: I have more appreciation for this strip after learning that today is the cartoonist's Mark Parisi's birthday! Happy birthday man!
Zits: I 100% do this.... I'm sorry Mom!Brewster Rockit: I've mentioned previously how much I love this comic and feel it should be more famous than it is.... this week they're doing this great "ink spill" storyline... I like how they tell you right of the bat that it's just a dream sequence, still funny and awesome! I hope they poke fun at Girls and Sports....please?
Luann: I'm shocked to see how different the characters looked 15 years ago! It just goes to show you that the more you cartoon the better you get and the more your comic and characters evolve! I just hope to keep doing Stupid Inventor to see the evolution there as well!
Thanks for reading everyone, I'll be back next Wednesday!

Yeah, I feel like I snoozed on that strip too. Sorry. I'll get it better next time.

HAHAHA I feel like such a jerk when I find out the cartoonist read my comment... It was still a great strip, I just think the real humor is Lio teasing aliens with his jetpack... no need for the words or bumper sticker.
I love Lio because you consistently make strips without words, something I could never do with Stupid Inventor and my limited art skills....

P.S. Loving the Heart of the City storyline this week... finding the Star Wars blooper reel and that rare comic in the Comic Book Shop a few months ago, that Dean is one lucky nerd!
What does "R.U.R." mean on the robot's shirt?

Perhaps Robot University Runners?
