I Guess He Could Be Using the High-End Premium Stuff......
Hey, today we lose a comic strip of 85 or so years. Annie, which was introduced to America as Little Orphan Annie has come to an end. For more info on Annie's history and possibilities for the strip, you can read this.
Annie 6/13/10
I honestly don't see how this is any different from all those other times Annie has been kidnapped. Except that Annie is noticeably more upset about it. Maybe the strip will return soon and showcase Annie living with the Butcher of the Balkans and developing Stockholm Syndrome or something.
Drabble 6/13/10
This strip would be more topical if it was 2008 when gas were hovering around $4.00 for everyone in the country. Gas is $2.40-$2.70 here and it doesn't cost $60 to fill the tank on a car that size. And from my research, the average cost of gas is about $2.70 and to fill a 16-gallon tank would cost $43.20. Not $60!!
God, I hate Drabble.
And this is where we leave today's Daily Comics Review...
For Now

It's hardly the first time Annie's been canceled, either. She was off the pages for ages until the '80s musical recharged interest in her, and since that excitement faded, they've been constantly "re-imagining" her until she's basically Kim Possible without eyes or the ability to fight for herself or do anything but sulk in a hotel room with a paranoid old man.
As for Drabble...well, if you're a tool of corporate-owned media, your job is to alternately agitate and mollify the masses, not make sense. It doesn't matter that gas prices used to be much higher; you want the idiots to whine and scream about how much they're paying NOW. It could be a dime a gallon and this strip would still run unchanged, because there's a tea party for hysterical morons going on, and they're exactly the sort of audience to form their opinions based on comic strips like Drabble.
