RRAWR!!

Another glorious Wednesday has come! Well maybe not glorious, but it is Wednesday.

I don't usually plug my own stuff, but if you like what you see here on Wednesdays you should go here, where you can find stuff that's mostly like this here. Also, other things!

TOBY 1/13/10

Insane electronic pimp is now a part of my vocabulary. Thank you Corey Pandolph, thank you.

The City 1/13/10

I find this to be an accurate depiction of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Maybe a little exaggerated, but not much.

Last Kiss 1/13/10

I'm not sure what the hell is going on, I just like the spiky word balloon.

Garfield Minus Garfield 1/13/10
Garfield minus Garfield only works when Garfield is an essential part of the comic. This particular strip doesn't change at all when Garfield is removed.

I think this one should have added Odie doing something. That could be a new thing right? Garfield Plus Odie. That might have potential.

Regarding Garfield Minus Garfield, IIRC the original premise was that the comic didn't change - and in fact was made funnier - when Garfield was removed. His character was often included to make a secondary punchline of sorts, one that detracted from the actual "humor" of the strip. Eventually, the G-G format evolved to make Jon into a the lonely psycho we know and love, but it began as a critique of Davis's writing style.

At least, that's what I'd heard.

re: Last Kiss, it's obvious that she's just excited that she gets to paint roller EVERYTHING. And by everything, I mean even a tent full of Christmas trees.

Garfield plus Odie would be funny... but I think it would be funnier if someone did something like Scott Meets Family Circus, where a new character is inserted to hate everything and everyone in Garfield.

Speaking of Garfield... does anyone remember the cartoon?

I loved that cartoon. I have the third volume on DVD.

If you liked that depiction of Cheney, you'll love his appearances in "Bob The Angry Flower." They are somehow simultaneously more over-the-top AND more accurate.
