Hooray for update

It's Friday. Hooray for Friday. Here's an update. Hooray for update. Also, my site is new and improved*, so you may want to check it out if you don't already?

I don't know why, but I sort of like this new crop of character more than pretty much anything this strip has done in the past ten years. Perhaps it's because they're just high school kids dealing with non-serious issues like being markered, and we have imagery like the third panel. So, basically, it's like the strip has started not taking itself so serious which is a very good thing.

I know they have a movie coming out next year, but it's still really weird that the Smurfs are everywhere now. I think "My Cage" would have done this joke regardless of the Smurf renaissance, I just wanted to bring that up.

Didn't "Webster" come out because of "Diff'rent Strokes"? Also, doesn't Gary Coleman have more lasting appeal than Emmanuel Lewis? You never hear anything about Lewis, but Coleman is out there fighting the good fight and poking fun at himself whenever they need him to. So I guess this comic strip is just about issues Gary Coleman has.

I guess the joke is just that Kayne West has really bad taste in comic strips. I have a "Marmaduke" book with various strips from the first fifty years, and in the beginning, Marmaduke always scowled and threatened people and he was generally a visibly hateful manipulating creature. Now it's all subtext.

*-Not really all that new and whether or not it's improved is a matter of opinion.

In "Imagine This", is that Prez. Obama with the rake? I'd spot those dumbo-sized ears anywhere!
