Of Webcomics and Quetzalcoatl

Hey folks. Here's your post. Hopefully it meets your approval.

Hi and Lois, 9/18/09

I've been doing a web-comic for years and I've only ever sold two shirts, so selling three a week? That's really not too shabby. Also: The people who do "Hi and Lois" are aware of web-comics, and vaguely aware of how they work. This worries me to no end.

I've been wondering the same thing about pretty much every sport.

They never actually made a "Godzilla Vs Gamera" movie. It's really one of those thing that most Japanese giant monster enthusiasts (note: don't tell me the proper term for such a thing, I know what it is) really want to see in one form or another.

Quetzalcoatl?

Hold on, why the heck is Ziggy talking about Quetzalcoatl, and in such a throw-away manner? They could have used any number of lame avian puns in this instance, yet they throw out a clue leading to an ancient Aztec deity? First "Hi and Lois" with their web-comics, and now this... I'm apprehensive about what nuttiness we'll see next week.

Quetzalcoatl [Nahuatl,=feathered serpent], ancient deity and legendary ruler of the Toltec in Mexico. The name is also that of a Toltec ruler, who is credited with the discovery of corn, the arts, science, and the calendar.

Look! I can cut and paste!

I would have thought the parrot would have thought he was in the movie "Q" where the ancient god Quetzalcoatl roosts on top of a skyscrapper in some U.S. city. Godzilla never met Gamera as the two were from competing movie studios. Clearly Godzilla had better production values (although who can hate a flying, jet-propelled fire-breathing tusked-turtle?)

I forgot about "Q". And even though they're from different companies (a fact I'm well aware of, mind you) that doesn't mean people still want to see the two duke it out.

Also, the Gamera revival in the nineties had better production values than Godzilla's, until the 2000 series where the two were put on somewhat equal footing. Also, the man who directed the three nineties Gamera movies directed "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack!" which was notable because of how little the usually compassionate Mothra cared for people and Ghidorah's role-reversal.

Interesting. 'King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack!' had a role reversal for King Ghidorah and Mothra? Wild. I must check it out. Seeing King Ghidorah concerned about humans and Mothra not, must be crazy.

I remember seeing a newer Gamera and you are right, the production values are better.

Here is a bizarre (and fun) Godzillaesque website you may or may not have seen:
