The Banking Crisis Has Been Great For Us!

Hello faithful readers, xy here again to give you your daily dose of sarcasm and hateful criticism. Well, semi-daily anyway. Maybe someday people will come back and we can get a daily schedule again.

Here are today's chosen ones.

9 to 5 7/1/09
9 to 5
I thought about this for several minutes (which is an eternity for me, I usually read a comic in 2 to 10 seconds depending on amount of text and decide if it is worthy of my wrath) and still have no idea why the financial crisis would be good for a mattress company. It's been good for dollar stores and companies that make cheap food, other than that it's been pretty bad. And what's with the crudely drawn dollar bills? Why are they falling? Nothing about this comic makes any sense.

I know Sparky will love this one.

Cleats 7/1/09

Anyone else creeped out by the fact that his shorts are slowly creeping down? In the first panel they are just below his belly button. In the last panel, they are well below his waist. If this was a 5 panel strip, he'd be naked at the end.

When will cartoonists learn that pedophilia is wrong?

Frog Applause 7/1/09
frog applause
I hate Frog Applause but I have to give kudos on this one. The percentage of people that could possibly find this comic funny is so infinitesimally small I think the writer was just trying to be clever. They failed, but earned a small amount of respect from me.

Not enough to keep me from hating the strip, but enough to not make me want to kill anyone after reading it anymore.

I think the mattress joke is about people now stuffing their money under (or in?) the mattress rather than risking putting it in the bank. The drifting, badly-drawn dollar bills? No idea.

I agree that must be what the "joke" is but it's not like people would be going out and actually BUYING new mattresses just to put their money in. they'd probably just put it in the mattress they already have, which doesn't really help the mattress company. I think you spent more time trying to figure it out than the cartoonist did coming up with it.

Yes, the joke is clearly about stuffinf money into matresses. optic nailed this dumb-ass joke right in the head with a 2X4 board...why buy a NEW matress?

As far as the wonderful shorts creeping down, I think it was only fair that he disrobe so the girls can make an exact copy of "His Really Big" or "His Really Weird" penis (I have heard from Pibgorn that his penis bends to the left and has serious scaring from Marmaduke attempting oral sex with him...so it could be either, girls.

Now that I've given up on banks, every paycheck I need to buy another new mattress to stuff all the one dollar bills under. I'm going to have to buy a new house just so I'll have a place to keep all my mattresses. So I like the comic; does no one share my experience?
