When Bryce is Away...

Another Thursday, another day stuck with me. Bryce Baker is on vacation, so we can do whatever we want here on the ol' DCR! WOOO! Today, it's really just more of the same. Tomorrow, though... who knows?

Andy Capp, 4/22/10

I don't know what Andy Capp is complaining about. According to Wikipedia, a budgie is a parakeet, and I'd watch a show about sassy parakeets. It's also a slang term about a helicopter, but I can think of few instances when a helicopter can be sarcastic. (Exceptions include Airwolf and Nick from "Skin Horse")

Betty, 4/22/10

This game exists. It is called "The Sims".

Popeye, 4/22/10

What Olive Oyl and the Sea Hag both fail to remember is the fact that Popeye is the monarch of a small island country named Spinachovia, or something like that. So this could just mean that Olive could marry Popeye at one point or another. It's unlikely that anyone else remembers this, however, so chances are it'll just be some plot where Olive marries a king who's not all he seems to be.

Now, let's see if I still hate Girls and Sports:

Yep, I do. Why does that girl keep hanging around these jerks? Look at her wide-eyed excitement in the first panel. She just wants to go camping with her friends, but Bradley casually dismisses her, crushing her optimism. Then he goes on to sit on the couch with his friend with all the camping stuff scattered about them. The draft apparently takes a few days, but I doubt they do it overnight, and I really don't think there's any reason for these guys to have all that stuff gathered around them. Especially toilet paper, since it means they plan to just let their droppings fall where they may.

Oooh, unless it's the apocalypse! In which case, I hope most of the characters die! The poor girl can live, though.

I had that exact same thought when I read Betty. Makes you wonder where the writers are getting their gaming information from. Not from any gamers, certainly.

Good news on Girls and Sports: they're barbecuing indoors, so soon they'll be dead from carbon monoxide poisoning!
