Archie
There's not much that makes sense in today's Archie. Mr. Weatherbee's in his cruise-wear, so you assume he's at home. But he can't be at home, because there's a detention room. But then he can't be school, because you wouldn't be hiring students to paint rooms at the school they attend, that would surely be a conflict of interest. There's not much that make sense in today's Archie.
Luann
Luann has now officially perfected their infinite-loop formula:
Brad awkwardly flirts with Toni ... Toni blatantly flirts with Brad ... Brad gets confused and asks TJ for advice... Brad awkwardly flirts with Toni ...
Gunther does something dorky ... Luann flirts with Gunther ... Gunther reacts like he's an asexual mental defective ... Elvis flirts with Luann ... Luann reluctantly goes on a date ... Luann hangs out with Gunther
Black-chick-whose-name-I-forget tries to get nerdy-girl-whose-name-I-forget and Luann to do something earthy ... nerdy-girl-whose-name-I-forget and Luann make lame jokes .... all 3 of them do the earthy thing anyway

Nobody in their right mind, including Wimpy and Popeye would ever NOT suspect that ghosts are IN THE FUCKING BOX. But that's what we have here, ladies and gentlemen. A complete insult to your intelligence and mine.

And believe it or not, in today's strip, they're STILL avoiding the roadside cleanup.
I think the Archie cartoon has a clue in it, if you look carefully. Mr. Weatherby used the word "hired". Ever visited a school in the summer? They do maintenance. And an administrator, perhaps the principal, is often there to unlock the doors and otherwise supervise. Casual attire may be assumed. HTH. The cartoon is not funny, as usual, but not mysterious either, except when being paid by the snark.
