Alley Oop:

Photobucket

Okay, these idiots spent a month on dino pics, but they're not going to tell me who the hell this guy is?

So if he wrote it, then just ask him about whatever's in the letter. (I forgot and I'm not looking it up.)

Andy Capp:

Photobucket

It's funny cause they're broke.

And she can't support the family, because women don't work once they're married.

It's funny because I hate this comic.

Is this the only Andy Capp you've ever read? SHE WORKS, HE DOESN'T.

I haven't read enough to know that.

I assumed they had the same setup as all the old marriage-oriented comics.

The dark-beared guy in Alley Oop is Oscar Boom. Steve Stiles encapsulates his character well: "Wonmug's colleague, Professor Oscar Boom, was the most complex character in Hamlin's stable, a man capable of friendship and betrayal, as well as cowardice and bravery. Boom, perhaps modeled on Arthur Conan Doyle's Professor Challenger (The Lost World), was a cynical realist and opportunist, adding a contrasting counterbalance to Alley's innocent simplicity. The two friends/enemies would share many a time-traveling adventure together, usually at each other's throats." -- http://www.stevestiles.com/alley.htm
