The comic:
This had to be really great at one point, that's the only reason people would continue to give a damn about it.
I mean, I haven't seen a lot of character development or funny jokes, so what is there to offer?
Or have I just lucked into a somehow shittier version of the Blondie 75th anniversary?
And this is still in papers? Innocent children read this dreck? How? They're not that dumb! Perhaps they're learning about dinosaurs in Sunday school or regular school or something, and hey, let's send in dinosaur pictures.
I still subject myself to For Better or For Worse. And I've seen it when was good. But there are still jokes, bad, old jokes, but jokes! Or weak character development. God, I'm defending FOOB.
Alley Oop is so

Oop was absolutely compelling when drawn and written by its creator, V.T. Hamlin, from the 1930s to the 1970s. He was an inspired, bizarre genius who created a lovingly illustrated world filled with rich, complex characters -- who don't even faintly resemble the crowd in the current strip.
They should have killed off Oop when Hamlin retired. But this is nothing new, I suppose.
Thank you for providing some background.
I'm glad to know it didn't always seem so meandering.
I'm with you on how it is now, though. Ugh.
