Chickens, Frogs, and Menus
Hey everyone! Zachary the Stupid Inventor here with today's comic review!
There weren't really any exceedingly bad or weird strips today, so just some interesting points:
Oh wait, there was one weird one:Brevity: I don't get it, flys are frog food, why would the mother frog not let the father frog eat it, I mean I get what the cartoonist is trying to do, the joke just doesn't really make sense.... I know, I think way to much about these things.....
Knitpicks:Garfield: Today's Garfield is doing the same exact joke as this Moderately Confused panel I posted two weeks ago. Garfield strips are done at least a year in advance, so I don't think anyone copied anybody. I'm just posting both cartoons so you can see how two type of comics approach the same joke; A gag-a-day and a three panel strip with recurring characters. Interesting indeed!
Scary Gary: The joke isn't so great, I just found it to be an interesting way of presenting the punchline. Have it in the first panel as a dream, then explain it in the third panel. Interesting.
Get Fuzzy: This strip is basically the three main characters always in their apartment talking, so depending on the conversation of the week, the comic is hit or miss. Today's comic though, made me laugh.
Rubes: Funny panel, it could be funnier though if there was a way to indicate that the two chickens have been there for a really long time.Lio: I especially love the "smoochie smooch smooch" sound effect! Although I'm not sure why Mark Tatulli put the heart in the 4th panel...
The Pajama Diaries: Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, and it's nice to see that on the comics page! Have a happy hanukkah everyone, and just happy holidays in general!
Thanks for reading!
Zach

I think the heart signifies that the more the girl (do we know her name?) abuses Lio, the more he loves her.
Probably the most realistic aspect of the strip, come to think of it.
@Eric You're 100% right I think, but for some reason the heart looks weird to me, like it looks like a real object and not a comic effect, you know?
