Celery, Cold Cuts, and Calvin's Corpse

Hey everyone!
Zachary the Stupid Inventor here again for this Wednesday's comic review!
My apologies for the lateness, I've been trying to beat a deadline all day and just finished the strip I was working on now.

Onto the review!

The Bad:

Herman: The problem with this strip is that this doesn't sound like such a far-fetched nightmare flight scenario anymore.... especially with airlines considering having a "Standing Section"...

Momma: The similarity between today's Momma and Lola strip is a bit uncanny, and they both happen to be pretty lame, although admittedly I'm not the target audience. The problem with Momma is that they try to exaggerate and it doesn't make the joke funny... even if it did, the whole "million side effects" gag has been done to death...

Lola: She does realize that she's talking to herself, right?

The Weird:
F-Minus: It's more of a decoy than a trap, but regardless the mother hiding in the background creeps me out for some reason...
Drabble: Not much to say about this strip except I love any mention of The Munsters, I had a debate about them on Stupid Inventor, and I say that The Munsters trump The Addams Family any day of the week!

Nitpicks:

Grin and Bear It: I'm not going to get into the politics of this cartoon, but when you need to have a talking dog in order to make the joke work, it's time for another re-write...
The Lockhorns: So between the Lockhorns and the Marriage Counselor, NONE of them know the rules of Rock, Paper, Scissors?

Bizarro: Funny strip, however I don't think the words are necessary. I don't know why I'm so anti-words lately, but I did a quick photoshop job to explain what I mean:

See? It takes a bit longer to find the gag this way, but I think that makes it funnier... just my humble opinion.

The Good:

Ferd'nand: What can I say? I'm a sucker for wordless strips...

Frank and Ernest: I'm also a sucker for really corny puns!

Grand Avenue: This one is super punny, plus I've been in this situation before... Leftovers, yuch!

Off The Mark: Doing these comic reviews made me realize how much I like Off The Mark, as far as gag-a-day panels go of course.

Big Nate: This sales pitch crash and burn is just so awkward and hilarious, has anyone ever bought wrapping paper then actually used it? Just curious...

Oh, and finally I want to end off with a shout out to the new Lio book that came out today.
I'm not trying to make a plug and get commissions I just wanted to show the cover:

It's a hilarious spoof of the cover of one of the Calvin and Hobbes collections!

But what really makes this hilarious is the cartoonist picture. Mark Tatulli did a spot on Bill Watterson impression, and I honestly burst out in laughter when I ever I see this comparison shot:
Hahahahaha genius! Great job Mark! I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but this one is awesome!

Thanks for reading everyone and I'll be back next Wednesday with my comic review, which should hopefully be uploaded much earlier... sorry again!

Hey Mark, does Watterson know of the spoof cover & photo, and if so, did he say anything about it? Just curious...
