Comics Evolution
Happy Tuesday! Have you hugged your dog trainer today?
I've figured out the secret of the Funkyverse! It's difficult with the flashbacks and the fast forwards, but I think I've got it.

Crankshaft 7/15/2010
Funky is Crankshaft! He's about to lose Montoni's and he's going to be forced to take another job. What would make more sense in that world than driving a school bus? Think about it.
I also discovered another interesting comics fact.

Edison Lee grows up to take a dead-end IT job at the J. C. Dithers Construction Company!

Arctic Circle made me laugh, which doesn't happen a lot.
Mandrake made me laugh, which I'm not sure is their intention.

Seriously. Worst. Killers. Ever. I'm actually not sure they could handle writing Garfield.
Mary Worth is making me squirm in my seat.

From the lame pop psychology to the thinly veiled absentee father message, it's just wrong on too many levels to count.
I've been enjoying the Old Spice campaign.
Luann 7/27/2010

That's not Phantom. It's "Mandrake the Magician". Also, there's been cross-overs where Funky Winkerbean has met up with Crankshaft. Heck, I think Crankshaft actually got his start in "Funky Winkerbean".
Ooops on the Phantom. I don't know what I was thinking. I even named the image Mandrake before uploading it.
Yes, Crankshaft got his start in Funky. (He also had a cameo in John Byrne's Next Men, but I digress.) My rather obtuse point was that Batiuk seems to be morphing Funky into a cranky old fart.
