I have returned!

The title of this post is humorous for two reasons: one, it's the day after Easter. For more reference on this, check a Christian's status update on Facebook from yesterday. Two, it's a line in the comic and refers to something that I might actually say. We call that a winner where I'm from.

Hopefully, I'll say something controversial in this post to generate some buzz and comments. That's something I feel I lack. I shouldn't take it personally... but... I'm not going to. I'm going to blame it on the comics I pick. These things suck.

I think my real problem is that I want to like this comic more than it actually deserves. This strip in particular is very unfunny, but, I mean, come on. There's a robot with a viking helmet on and his name is Toby. For crying out loud... this should just be funny naturally. It's a funny concept, but something horrible has happened here. In an effort to continue the "plot" of the strip, the punchline is followed by something else. Or, maybe I'm just missing the punchline...

Perhaps it's elusive and mysterious; like the reason that this comic which is dynamically set up for hilarity is drench in unfunny. Sorry, Toby. I just expect more from a robot viking.

Yes, it's true. I found out something new today. Ziggy is still around. I'm not sure why, but let's face it, this comic is funnier than Toby was. Remember how funny Toby should have been? But now we're talking about how ZIGGY is FUNNIER than TOBY? Yeah. I just went there.

Seriously though... This is humorous in the "I kinda smirked at this a little bit" way. But what does the artist care what I think, he's like 1,000 years old and has plenty of money invested in Beanie Babies from all accounts.*

*There is no reference for this, and it may require further explanation by someone more qualified like a Ziggy expert. If there is such a thing... you should be ashamed of yourself.

I didn't want to like this one, but the more I looked at it, the more a grin grew on my face. It's clever. It's not the kind of joke that you go and try to tell your wife about because it would sound something like this:

Me: "Hey honey! There was this funny joke where a cucumber was looking a yearbook, and, like, all his friends had written 'stay cool!'"
Wife: "Why is that funny?"
Me: "Cause it's a cucumber."
Wife: "..."
Me: "Cool as a cucumber?"
Wife: "Oh."
Me: "Funny right?"
Wife: "Yeah, it's cute."

I realize that the iPad just came out to the public and now people can actually have them... but most of the Internet got out all their iPad jokes a few months ago when Satan Steve Jobbs announced it. This just goes to show the distance between newspaper readers and Internet users. You know, old people.

Gosh darned Animal Crackers. This is still being dumb. Echoes in the mountains are naturally surround sound. And the HD thing is getting pretty old. Ugh. Old jokes for old folks. I sure hope someone enjoys some of these comics. Somewhere in the world.

As a creator, I think being criticized is a good measure of showing exposure. Even if your comic sucks big time and someone's posting a terrible review of your comic... you got noticed. Heck, and take the criticism and do something better. Write better jokes. Watch movies. Get on the Internet and see what is ACTUALLY HAPPENING IN THE WORLD.

Speaking of criticizing my work... feel free to at The Underfold!

The end.
