Here's Some More News for You to Consume
Looks like it's time for another addition to the ever growing library of News on the DCR. Some weeks are good, some weeks are bad, but you can always count on your friendly neighborhood xy to make fun of comic strip news. Let's see what we have this week.
From 3/31/09:
Dagwood shoppes are as bad as the character
It seems that the Dagwood's Sandwich Shoppes are having some tough times. I don't know if it's because they are a crappy company, because they sell overpriced food, or because of the current economy; what I can say for sure is that if you even know what a Dagwood Sandwich is, you are very old, or are too invested in pop culture of a different generation.
From 4/2/09:
Wild Things. Not the one with nudity
I guess they're making a movie out of Where the Wild Thing Are and this is the first trailer. My guess is that the movie is 40 minutes long and is really stupid. Also, my guess is wrong, at least about the 40 minutes part. How do you make a movie based on a short story for children? And do parents still read Where the Wild Things Are to their children? It's a pretty old book, so I would imagine that it has fallen by the wayside as an actual children's book and is adored in the memory of adults that had it read to them when they were children.
That's the news from the internet. Or more specifically, the Daily Cartoonist.
Webcomic of the Week may return this Saturday if I am able to contact the author.
UPDATE: I was able to reach the author and a review is in the works! Hooray!
Good night and don't die in your sleep, I hear that sucks.

I think lots and lots of kids still read Where the Wild Things Are. I have two kids and the older one has been reading it (or having it read to her) since she was 2. Most of my friends with kids include it in their library as well...
that's good to know. i know that plenty of children's books become something that adults remember fondly, but kids don't necessarily know of.
maybe that doesn't apply to classics, i don't know, i don't have kids.
I read it to my nephew and it's one of his favorites.
and the trailer looks intriguing.
