Comics Community - Real and Imagined
One of the mad phatest things about having a comics review blog is that I've met some pretty cool like-minded people here on the interwebs. From my fellow DCR contributors to all the other comic bloggers that I've shared links and words of encouragement with, our little community has a nifty way of making feel like less of a freak. One member of this maniacal cabal that I would like to give some encouragement to is Scott Gairdner of Scott Meets Family Circus.
I'm not sure if I can attribute the astounding originality of his work to his mad skillz or the fact that he only updates about once a month, but consider us in the camp of people who want MORE MORE MORE of his goodness!
Now on to the bizarre world of my internet mixing with my reality. This weekend is the Stumptown Comics Fest! It is the first comics event I will have ever attended and I am pretty pumped to meet some local and national artists. Tickets are $6 for one day or $10 for both Saturday and Sunday. If you live anywhere close to the Portland area you should totally go! Even though he wont be there, I will be wearing my T-Rex's Busy Day Balloon t-shirt I got for Christmas from Ryan North of Dinosaur Comics store and would love to meet and chat about comics with other likeminded individuals. That's it for today, the comics weren't even bad enough to write about so instead I mixed it up a little bit. Hope you don't mind.
