Palbot and Mr. Kim come to America!

The great secret about me is that I pretty much never say no to free stuff. If you want your comic or graphic novel reviewed, send me something and I will feel a supernatural obligation to review it on my site. I promise to do my best to check it out in a timely manner.

Palbot and Mr. Kim come to America
Palbot and Mr. Kim come to America cover
"'Palbot and Mr. Kim come to America' is the first comic series to teach multi-cultural education. The imaginative graphic novel will also launch an online animated series produced by Smorgasbord Productions, and will have a toy line. The series follows the adventures of Mr. Kim, a Korean business man, and his guide Palbot (a protocol and language robot). As the two head to America, Palbot guides Mr. Kim step by step on proper business etiquette in corporate America. The underlying themes revolve around understanding American etiquette and language. "

mr. kim freaks out
If you are a Korean business man who is working with Americans or traveling to the USA, first let me apologize for our horribly manners, pushy ways, and unnecessarily complicated language. Second, go buy this instructional comic book. Jinsoo Terry (check her website out if you've never heard of her) is a multicultural expert, motivation speaker, and comic book author, among other things. This is her first comic book in a new series and even though I am out of the target demographic it was still very entertaining.

palbot explains handshakes
The presentation of the advice throughout the book is gentle and easy to understand. I could not find any glaring stereotypes or spots where there wasn't enough information. I WANT A PALBOT. Jinsoo, if you are reading this, Palbot actions figures or plushies would make great Christmas presents, for ME.

palbot gets drunk
The art style reminds me of cel shading. There could be more color variety; there are a lot of oranges, browns and reds, but the clean white review pages between the sections help break up the same tones. Palbot is a hilarious character and an invisible robot friend would be immensely helpful. Humanity of course would never use invisible robot technology is such a beneficial way; heck I can think of roughly 23 horrible things I would love to have an invisible robot to do for me.

palbot explains what not to discuss
If there is anything you can take away from the Palbot comic book, it's that if you have read about it on the Daily Comics Review, normal Americans will be horrified if you bring it up for discussion. I can't suggest another english business cultural explanation graphic novel more highly than Palbot and Mr. Kim come to America.
