Crazy Straws and Peanut M&M's

Hey everyone, the Stupid Inventor back again, this time with today's comic review!
Sorry it's late, but I had a final exam... anyways, let's get started.

The Bad:

Beetle Bailey: I wasn't sure if people actually ate peanut butter and honey sandwiches, but I googled it and it's a legitimate sandwich... but still the joke just doesn't seem to work here. I think this strip should have been a 3 panel, with him saying "honey" in the second panel, and the third panel should have the angry wife and the "uh oh" thought bubble... just my opinion of course, feel free to disagree.

Blondie: Why is this funny? It's really sad... "Hey Blondie! We're financially ruined! Haha!"

Girls and Sports: Yes, I know I make fun of this comic a lot, but today's strip bothered me even more than usual. First of all, why the guys hand in the 2nd panel going above the frame? I think it was a mistake. Second of all, looking past the chauvinistic joke, I just don't think the sports analogy actually works. I'm no sports expert though. Oh and I'm guessing they originally didn't want to write "kiss"... have I mentioned I don't like this strip?
Pardon My Planet: Wow! A "Medusa getting her hair done" comic? Seriously? Wow...

The Weird:
Funky Winkerbean: I just think it's amazing/creepy that they can make a strip like this one and you just KNOW it's going to end horribly because Funky is probably the most depressing comic strip in history... we'll find out tomorrow!

Luann: Eric commented yesterday on the weirdness of the story line, the main question being "Why couldn't Gunther have changed in the bathroom?".... but now that I see him in costume, another big question emerges... why did he have to get naked to change into that costume? and why is there water on the floor?

And is it just me or does his costume look like something else?

(Pardon my juvenile sense of humor, but that's what it looks like to me!

Mother Goose and Grimm: First of all, I can't believe they let this joke run in papers... it's pretty funny, but I think they should have made the third panel have the red and the yellow M&M instead of Mr. Peanut... just would have been funnier in my opinion...

The Good:
Rip Haywire: This strip is similar to Brewster Rockit in that they're both modern comedy/adventure strips done in an old style. But this one actually has a plotline to it. (I still think Brewster Rockit is funnier, but maybe that's because I like science fiction more...)

The Wizard of ID: They should totally be allowed to use the carpool lane! Also, I once saw a hearse driving with a ton of packages in the back... weird!

Brevity: Just for the record, a straw with at least one loop is a "crazy straw"... if it has no loops but it's squiggly it's only mildly disturbed... that's just my theory....

Big Nate: This one made me laugh... poor guy!

Ok, that's it for me today, see you all next Wednesday and I will keep you updated about the contest! Wish me luck!

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't get it. Yesterday he stripped because of the sprinkler....now today it's to put on his Long Dong Gunther outfit?

Is Medusa using the mirror to admire herself or give the hairstylist a safe way to look at her?

I guess since he got sprayed by the sprinkler, he decided to change immediately rather than walk to the bathroom.... it still doesn't make sense though.

Good point, I think the "original" part of the cartoon was that the hairdresser was feeding her snakes hamsters to make it look "full bodied"...

is Mother Goose and Grimm supposed to mock "Penis Envy"?

Yes, Monique, I believe that's what they were going for... which is why I was surprised it was in the newspaper!

The yellow M&M is the peanut one.
The red one doesn't have peanuts!

I am so glad I don't have to ever deal with yearbooks again. I am pretty sure the comic may have been based upon me.
